What types of bikes are allowed?
Guests can bring standard, non-electric pedal bicycles for adults and children, up to a maximum of 80 inches in length, and 50lbs in weight. E-Bikes and e-scooters are not permitted at this time.
How many bikes can guests bring?
There is a limit of one bike per guest, and a total of two bikes per sailing. Guests must book and reserve their bikes online in advance of the sailing departure. We look forward to expanding our services in the future.
How do guests book a bike spot?
When booking online, select the Bike Add-On to a passenger ticket on eligible sailings. Spots are first-come, first-served, up to the per-sailing limit. Bike reservations must be booked online in advance. Note: if the add-on isn’t visible, the sailing either doesn’t permit bikes or the limit has been reached.
How much does it cost?
Bringing a bike on board will cost $30 one-way, and $50 roundtrip. Tickets must be purchased online in advance of the sailing to ensure sufficient space on board.
What is the boarding process with a bike?
Please arrive at least 30 minutes early. Guests are responsible for loading their bikes onto the vessel and into the designated spaces on board. Guests travelling with a bike will disembark last. Please note: wearing cleated footwear is prohibited, and riding a bike is not permitted anywhere on terminal property, including during the boarding and disembarkation process.
Where and how are bikes secured on board?
Bikes will be stowed in designated bike racks on board, in the Large Luggage stowage area. Please check that your bike is secure before departure - our crew will also verify all bikes are properly secured before we leave and throughout the journey. If we notice any movement, we'll immediately re-secure your bike. Personal locks are not permitted.
What are the safety limitations and liability for bike damage?
Wearing cleated footwear creates a fall risk, and is prohibited. Riding a bike is not permitted anywhere on terminal property, including during the boarding and disembarkation process. Bikes travel at the guest’s own risk. Hullo/VIFC does not accept liability for damage (per Conditions of Carriage).
Can the crew refuse a bike?
A bike may be refused if it does not fit the above guidelines, would exceed the per-sailing limit, create unsafe loading processes, or otherwise compromise safety or egress. The crew reserves the right to inspect and confirm or deny the suitability of all bikes on Hullo property.
Are cargo bikes, tandems, or trailers included?
This FAQ covers standard, non-electric bicycles only, which must be a maximum of 80 inches and 50lbs. For anything else, refer to our Luggage & Sporting Goods policy.
