What is the fuel surcharge?

Modified on Wed, 17 Jun at 3:20 PM

The fuel surcharge is a temporary $3.78 per person, per sailing fee that will apply to bookings made on or after June 19, 2026. This is in response to sustained increases in global fuel prices, and ongoing volatility in energy markets driven by geopolitical conflict overseas that is greatly impacting operational costs.

Will there be further fare increases?

We have no further increases planned at this time.

When does the fuel surcharge take effect?

The fuel surcharge will be added at the check out stage for all sailings booked on or after June 19th.

How do Hullo’s fares compare with other travel provider options?

Fuel surcharges have become common for other regional transportation options between the Island and mainland, both by sea and by air, with charges up to $20. Hullo’s fuel surcharge remains substantially lower, at a fixed cost of $3.78 per person, per sailing.
